Accessing Settings

Click the settings/preferences icon in the Data Viz input area to open the settings panel. Your settings are saved automatically and persist across sessions.

Custom Instructions

Custom instructions let you provide persistent guidance to the AI. These instructions are included with every query you make, helping the AI understand your preferences and context.

What to Include

• Your role- "I'm a commercial real estate investor focused on multifamily properties"
• Geographic focus- "I primarily work in the Phoenix and Austin markets"
• Preferred formats- "Always include Excel exports with your analysis"
• Specific terminology- "Use cap rate and NOI in financial analysis"
• Default criteria- "Unless specified, focus on properties over 50 units"

Character Limit

Custom instructions are limited to 2,000 characters. Keep them concise and focused on information that applies to most of your queries.

Example Custom Instructions

I'm a multifamily investor focused on value-add opportunities
in Sun Belt markets. When analyzing properties, always include:
- Cap rate and NOI calculations
- Comparison to market averages
- Rent growth potential

Preferred output formats:
- Tables with key metrics
- Excel exports for detailed data
- Charts for trend analysis

Geographic focus: Phoenix AZ, Austin TX, Dallas TX

Settings Persistence

Your settings are:

• Saved to your account automatically
• Applied to all Data Viz conversations
• Synced across devices when logged in
• Updateable at any time

Resetting Settings

To reset your settings:

• Custom instructions - Delete the text and save

• Start simple - Add custom instructions gradually as you learn what helps
• Be specific - Vague instructions are less effective than specific ones
• Update regularly - Adjust your settings as your needs change
• Test changes - After updating settings, try a few queries to see the effect
